WordPress; just dang good

It may be time for a new commercial for WordPress. As a WordPress aficionado and supporter, I am amazed at the platform’s growth and generational transformation. Since it’s humble beginnings in 2003, WordPress has evolved into the leading content management system (CMS) and the largest self-hosted blogging tool in the civilized world.

WordPress may epitomize the success of the Open Source approach. The collaboration of hundreds of smart people in many countries have made the platform what it is today. And it’s free. Paired with a template to make the front end look interesting, the WordPress software handles security, the backend, static pages, a user role system, the PHP and MySQL that make it work and the ability to use plug-ins, themes and widgets.

With custom menus, bulk plug-in updating, a theme previewer, automatic upgrading and even easy header customizing, WordPress is the answer to the coding-challenged. It makes, not only getting a blog up and running easy as pie, but it can be the platform for a functional and good-looking website as well. It is the do-everything-well foundation for a great blog or website. It will allow a beginner the means to produce a good looking web presence in just a short time.

Now, having evolved through more than a dozen versions, WordPress just keeps getting better and more brilliantly designed.

By the way, this blog depends on WordPress too.
