The release of The Terrible Insects has been plagued with delays. The book was scheduled for release in bookstores for the end of November, which was pushed back to the end of December. Each delay requires a notification to the Library of Congress, which was given the earlier release date back in September. Now, after ordering expedited service, and paying for it, the distributor/printer has taken 13 days to print the two copies of the book I needed for review.
The public release date has already been moved to January 5, 2024, but this date is unlikely to be achieved now since the printer’s mail date won’t be until tomorrow, January 2nd, assuming that even occurs. Even after paying for expedited service, I am sure I will not receive hard copies of the book until after January 5th. I had finished writing the book in October.
So, the date that the printer is authorized to release The Terrible Insects to bookstores will have to be backed up once again. I currently only have one other book on the schedule for 2024, and a few concepts in mind, but the cost of bringing a children’s book to publication, along with the many delays, is not incentive to release too many other titles. The formatting of the book, along with the coordination with the illustrator and the many revisions of each of the illustrations, makes for a lot of work. As most children’s book authors know; there is little remuneration in return.
Watch for The Terrible Insects for order through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and your local bookstore sometime in the near future. The tentative on-sale date is now January 24, 2023.
My personal finance and wealth creation book is a priority in this new year and is comprehensive and well-researched. It will be a very useful book for anyone who wants a good financial future.
Watch for future books by K Richard Douglas.
