(UPDATE: Thankfully, Ksenia was not one of the victims in the Moscow terrorist attack. All Leonid & Friends band members are safe)
I am a little late in posting this since Leonid and Friends released it a few months back in September, the month of Ksenia’s birthday. Yet another incredible performance, and this time, the classic: “Superstar.” Anyone who was around in the 70s remembers the incredible voice of Karen Carpenter and you would also be aware of her sad and pre-mature passing many years ago.
Taking on any song sung by such an incredible singer as Karen would be a daunting task, but then there is the super-talented Ksenia Buzina with a voice worthy of any of history’s great female singers or any present-day performers.
As is always the case, the masterful arrangement and the flawless performance of all the artists in Leonid & Friends reminds us of why they are a tribute band and not just a cover band. The attention to detail and the quality of the musicianship abounds. I would be remiss if I didn’t post about this with all of the Ksenia fans I have heard from since 2018. The band just wrapped up a 50-engagement tour of the U.S. and while in L.A., Ksenia spent time with Richard and Mary Carpenter at their home and had dinner with them. Another reminder that Leonid & Friends and Ksenia have caught the attention of the artists whose songs they have reproduced and done such great justice to. Just ask the members of Chicago.
