The Murder of Charlie Kirk

Charlie Kirk’s life and its impact on millions of people cannot be measured. Charlie’s voice and message and influence traveled far and wide. It was heard most by the younger generation but Charlie’s debates, statements of faith and general messaging reached people in every demographic and in countries around the world.

Charlie Kirk’s death, his murder, will never be measured in the scope of its impact. Charlie’s assassination shook people to their very core. It made many very public people, well known people, cry in front of the camera.  I have read hundreds and hundreds of comments under videos and articles about Charlie. There were some common refrains.

“This hit me hard.”   (I read that comment hundreds of times.)
“There have been many famous people I followed who died, but this was different. This was like a family member.”
“I have been crying for two days.”

The videos of those morning Charlie’s death number in the thousands in just the first 48 hours. Messages of sadness and well-wishes poured in from heads of state around the world. Even many people who disagreed with Charlie were compelled to write about the horrific way his life ended.

At the same time, thousands more ugly, hateful, misinformed comments were written and videos were made. Granted those voicing support and shock far outnumbered the haters, but the messages from the violent left, the anarchists, the trans community and others were so inhumane, so vengeful, gleeful and disgusting, that they propelled and mulitplied the responses from others. The hatefest drove many, many people away from the left.

Somehow, 48 hours after the terrible murder of Charlie, his wife Erika found the strength to address the public. How she did it can only be explained through faith and character and her knowledge of the millions of supporters who would appreciate every word. Her words were strong and courageous and rooted in her faith in Jesus.

Her pain, and the depths of her grief could not be missed, but she vowed that the movement Charlie had started would live on.

Within a few hours, on just the Turning Point USA web channel, her video had been viewed nearly two and a half million times with more than 10,000 comments of support. (3.3 million as of this writing)

Charlie Kirk’s uniqueness, his brilliance, his respect for his debate opponents, his humor and calmness and his passion for free speech, an open and civil dialogue and debate, all garnered legions of admirers, fans, devotees and subscribers.

He led thousands of people to Jesus.

There will be others inspired to take up the mantle, to take the baton, but there will never be another Charlie Kirk. A hate-filled anarchist, who bought into false narratives ended a life that was more profound and influential than anyone could measure.
